ESSL ART AWARD CEE
Awarded by the Essl Collection, powered by bauMax and Vienna Insurance Group
Established in 2005 the ESSL ART AWARD is dedicated to the discovery and support of art students at art academies in Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and 2013 for the first time also in Turkey.
“It was our desire to promote young artists from Central and Southeast Europe and give them the opportunity to exhibit their artwork in an international museum context that inspired us to endow an art award in countries besides Austria where our family business bauMax is present. The ESSL ART AWARD is conferred every two years.”
Prof. Agnes and Karlheinz Essl
Essl Museum
The ESSL ART AWARD aims at supporting artists while being in education and offers them an opportunity to present their works in an international museal context. It is crucial for this project to cooperate with the art academies. These institutions are the nucleus and well established places for the training of the future generations of artists.
In cooperation with bauMax the ESSL ART AWARD promotes young art talents in the countries in which the family business bauMax has an active presence. The Award thereby offers a direct access to contemporary art production of Central and South-Eastern Europe, at the very moment of its creation.
Up to now the ESSL ART AWARD was successfully awarded in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. 2013 will be the 5th time already.
